The Awesome Foundation thinks 3B is awesome!

So in between eating dinner and listening to some country songs my Mom saw a new email for me. She started to read the email out loud and we all stopped and listened. I took her phone and read it again to myself, too.

It said, “I’m Trina King, Dean of the Awesome Foundation Philadelphia chapter. I’m contacting you to let you know that your Awesome project, 3B Brae’s Brown Bags, was chosen as the May 2014 winner of our $1,000 grant!”

So it’s super cool that there is a place called The Awesome Foundation and it’s even cooler that their Philadelphia Chapter things 3B is awesome enough to give me a $1,000 grant for my project!

Thank you so much!

3B: A visit to Emmanuel Dining Room and a brand new grant

February 2014 EDROn Sunday, February 23, 2014 I went to the Emmanuel Dining Room again. There was a lot of people and I ran out of 60 bags that I made in 15 minutes. Of the 60 bags I had packed 10 child bags, the other 50 bags were the regular 3B bag. This time the child bags had books AND some activity pads, pencils and small toys (like teddy bears and little race cars) thanks to donations we had received.

There is also some very exciting news I would like to share.

sodexofoundationToday I found out my application was accepted and considered to be “one of the best” for a grant from the YSA (Youth Service America) and Sodexo Foundation. Late last year my Mom helped me apply for this grant. Today in an email I was told I will be one of the winners receiving a grant.

The Sodexo Foundation Youth Grants, offered funding of up to $500 for youth to lead projects focused on ending childhood hunger in their communities. It is very excited to find out that 3B Brae’s Brown Bags Foundation made the cut!

Stay tuned for even more very cool news coming soon!

3B has received a $500 grant from DoSomething.org

ds-logo_trademark-01_thicker-trademarkLast night my Mom and I were going through my email. We say an email come through from DoSomething.org and this was the subject line, “Congratulations on being selected as a Do Something Seed Grant Winner!”

The email was long and I won’t share it all here, but they congratulated me for being selected and then said they wanted to personally thank me for all I’m doing to make a difference in my community.

So without further adieu…

Braeden writing out his thoughts for this post.

I just got a $500 dollar grant from DoSomething.org! I think that it is very nice of them. The money will come in handy.

I will use it for healthy snacks and water for the 3B bags. This is going to be very exciting!

I will get stickers to put my logo on and to put them on the bags and give to people so they can learn more about Brae’s Brown Bags. I have also decided to put books in bags for kids since Christmas is coming up. I also want to add gloves and maybe hats in the bags for cold days.

I really don’t know how to say “thank you” enough to DoSomething.org for this amazing grant! DoSomething.org has helped me to help more people. I feel like “thank you” isn’t enough.
